In a move reminiscent of hip-hop rappers honoring fallen friends, the daughter of Pakistan’s assassinated prime minister Benazir Bhutto has written a tribute rap song for her mother.
The song entitled “I Would Take The Pain Away” features a five-minute video with clips and photographs of the slain Bhutto. The video was broadcast on Pakistani television and Youtube.
Bakhtawar Bhutto, 18, is a student at England’s Edinburgh University and sings, “My mother was murdered. I don’t even comprehend. Was it worth dying for? I’m walking through screened doors.”
Benazir Bhutto was the first woman elected to head a Muslim state and was murdered in a hail of gun fire and a suicide bomb attack in December of 2007 in Rawalpindi, Pakistan.
