Singer M.I.A. (born Maya Arulpragasam) is up for two Grammys: Record of the Year for “Paper Planes” and Best Rap Song for “Swagga Like Us.” But the pregnant star may not attend the Grammy Awards this Sunday because her baby is due on that day.
“They say that you’re often late the first time, so I’m planning to go,” the 31-year-old mom-to-be told USA Today. “We’ll see. People are trying to get me to relax and focus on the baby. It’s like being in parallel universes.”
M.I.A., who is also up for an Oscar for the song “O … Saya” from award darling Slumdog Millionaire, adds, “Having a baby is the most creative thing you can do. It makes you re-learn the world through a child’s eyes.”
