Ga Ga: Slumdog Millionaire is Blindie’s Best Flick of 2008

After watching director Danny Boyle’s film, Slumdog Millionaire, Blindie believes in the power of filmmaking again.

The awe-inspiring film follows the life of a street kid (Dev Patel) in Mumbai who competes on an Indian version of “Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?” to be seen by his childhood love (Freida Pinto). After he goes further than any other contestant in the show’s history, the “slumdog” contestant is interrogated and rehashes how the adventures in his tough life provided him with the answers to each money-earning question.

What excited Blindie most was the fact that with a holiday drama season filled with overpaid movie stars (Brad Pitt in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Tom Cruise in Valkyrie and Leonardo DiCaprio in Revolutionary Road), Slumdog Millionaire didn’t need the fanfare or the paparazzi.

It’s because the film was about the story—and at the end of the day all an audience wants is a heartbreaking, intelligent, and awe-inspiring story that makes them believe in dreams again.
