Media Goes Purple to Appear Neutral in Campaign Season

In an effort to appear neutral on air in this very divisive campaign season, television pundits have opted for purple ties rather than Democratic blue or Republican red, according to the New York Times Style section.

“Purple is the new neutral,” Jim Moore, the creative director of GQ, said of the latest tie trends of grape to periwinkle–exhibited on the always-yummy Anderson Cooper.

“I’m surprised to see it on so many people throughout this whole political season,” said Tommy Fazio, the men’s fashion director at Bergdorf Goodman. “There are other ways of not being partisan.”
