Princeton University Professor Cornel West discusses the symbolic impact of a black president and the subsequent metamorphosis of the self-image of the United States and the psyche of black people.
“My God, the impact on children….it makes a big difference, that means the sky is the limit for them,” he says.
West points out that with the election of Barack Obama as President of the United States “the economics of greed, the culture of indifference to the poor and the politics of fear now come to an end.”
“It is a new day, it’s a great day, and here in America today it is a happy day,” he declares.
