Obama Throws First Pitch at St. Louis All-Star Game

President Barack Obama threw out the ceremonial first pitch to the Cardinals’ Albert Pujols at Tuesday night’s All-Star Game at St. Louis’ Busch Stadium.

Obama is the seventh President to make an appearance at an All-Star Game, but only the fourth to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

The President had just returned from Africa where he toured the Portugese slave castle Elmina in the coastal country of Ghana and urged for the continent to have greater openness, fairness and honesty in busines and government.

Color on the Cover: ‘Damned Yankee’ Alex Rodriguez Spill the Details


After tearfully confirming that he used a “banned substance” to enhance his playing power, New York Yankee slugger Alex Rodriguez appears on the April 2008 issue of men’s style mag Details.

“We live in a world right now where everyone’s keeping score,” Rodriguez says. “And it doesn’t stop when the games end. . . . They’ve crossed over. And you have the Internet stuff, and all these phones. . . . It’s very intense.”

On a lighter note, he even admits to taking the subway after home games in New York: “I have a hoodie on, but all it takes is one person and then you’re done. But it’s great. The fans get a kick out of it, I get a kick out of it. We talk about who’s pitching tonight, and what we need to do. It’s like being on sports radio.
