A new profile for screenwriter Aaron Sorkin popped up on Facebook and sent bloggers and tech geeks into a tizzy with claims that he is bringing the social networking phenomena to the big screen.
Sorkin’s profile page announces plans to write a movie about the Mark Zuckerberg invention with Sony Pictures and producer Scott Rudin. The West Wing creator also confesses to being a Facebook virgin and not understanding how it works.
“I figured a good first step in my preparation would be finding out what Facebook is, so I’ve started this page,” Sorkin writes.
With legal disputes over it’s original inventors, controversy over it’s breach of privacy with the Beacon advertising program and Microsoft’s $240 million stake in the company, Facebook has all the makings of a Hollywood drama.
But while Sony confirmed to InternetNews.com that the project is in the works, Facebook says in a statement, “We are routinely approached by writers and filmmakers interested in telling the Facebook story. We are certainly flattered by the attention and interest, but at this point, have not agreed to cooperate with any film project.”Read More
