Connor Cruise Set To Star in Red Dawn Remake

connor-cruise

Tom Cruise’s adopted son Connor has landed a role in the remake of the 1984 film Red Dawn.

The 14 year-old will play Daryl, the youngest in the group of high schoolers who defend their town against foreign invasion. Josh Hutcherson, Edwin Hodge, Adrianne Palicki and former stars of the Australian series Home and Away Chris Hemsworth and Isabel Lucas will also star in the war drama.

Dawn is scheduled to begin filming next month and set to be released in 2010.

Blindie sees big things on the horizon for the little Cruise man. Afterall, the original film helped put Patrick Swayze and Charlie Sheen on the Hollywood map and his father is sort of a box-office heavyweight. And in case you missed it, Connor played a young Will Smith in last year’s Seven Pounds.

Oprah Hangs With Jay-Z in Brooklyn and Declares the Rapper is Her ‘New Best Friend’

oprah-jay-z
Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey may have been notorious for snubbing rappers on her television show but the mogul was hanging out with Jay-Z in his old hood, Brooklyn’s Marcy Projects, on Sunday and apparently loving every minute of it.

The media powerhouse called into her best friend Gayle King’s radio show on Monday and praised the rapper saying, “Oh, Jay-Z is my new best friend.”

“He was so charming and delightful, and he smelled so good! And it’s that kind of thing where you hug a guy, and the scent is sort of buried in them. When we went to the second location, I could still smell him on me. It was like, ‘Oh, this is wonderful.’ ”

Winfrey said her two-hour interview with Hova would be for her magazine O and not for her talk show.

“It was really a conversation, and at the end of the day, you feel like you get to know someone,” she said. “I feel like I met a new friend. It was really great.”

Blindie is hoping Oprah is just trying to keep a Jay-Z television special under wraps by throwing everyone off with talk about the magazine. How can you have a two-hour interview with Beyonce’s husband, and oh yeah, one of rap’s biggest artist, and not air it on your show? Maybe 50 Cent was right when he told the Associated Press, “I think she caters to older white women…So, I could care less about Oprah or her show.”

Madonna’s Adoption Parodied In Edinburgh Fringe Festival’s Mercy Madonna of Malawi

Mercy-Madonna-of-Malawi
We suppose it was only a matter of time before Madonna‘s controversial Malawian adoption drama was parodied into a musical starring a black man in drag.

Mercy Madonna of Malawi, directed by award-winning British director Toby Gough stars Robert Magasa as the Material Girl and a cast of Malawian dancers wearing “Adopt Me” T-shirts.

Madonna and her repertoire of hits are skewered in the parody as “La Isla Bonita” is performed as “Last Night I Dreamed of Malawi,” and a scene shows the pop star passing gas in the bed with her adopted son David Banda and then using him as a step to climb onto the stage.

The Malawian actors researched the production by spending time with the lawyer who opposed the adoption on the ground of children’s rights, Maxwell Matewere, and James Kambewa, Mercy’s father who also opposed the adoption.

The low-budget musical is playing as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival at St. George’s West in Edinburgh until August 31.
