After kicking off his first day as U.S. President with a prayer service at the Washington National Cathedral, Barack Obama took two meetings, one with economic advisers and another with the defense secretary, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and others to discuss national security and the withdrawal of troops from Iraq, then retook the presidential oath of office.
The do-over was prompted by Tuesday’s gaffe when Chief Justice John Roberts stumbled over the oath mixing up the words and causing Obama to also mess up.
Roberts once again delivered the oath to the President but this time only in the presence of a few aides and reporters in the Map Room of the White House at 7:35pm on Wednesday evening.
When President Obama was asked by Roberts “Are you ready to take the oath?” He answered “Yes, I am. And we’re going to do it very slowly.”
