Barack Obama jetted off to Hawaii this weekend for a much-needed holiday break and kicked off his two-week vacation by teeing off on the Olomana Golf Links in Waimanalo.

With less than a month to go before his historical and much-hyped inauguration, Obama seemed in good spirits as he played 18 holes of golf with political aide Eugene Kang and some friends.

Dressed in a white polo shirt, tan cargo shorts and some cool shades, Obama made a food run midway through the course, stopping at a snack bar to purchase the following: two passion-orange sodas, one Powerade, and one Coke, two hot dogs, two Spam musubi (a sushi-like Hawaiian delicacy consisting of Spam and fried egg on a slab of rice held together with a dried seaweed wrap) -all totaling $17.75.

The President-elect even offered to pick up the beer tab for the reporters, suggesting they take a break from photographing him by visiting the clubhouse, CNN reports.

Obama spent the rest of the weekend shirtless, showing off his washboard abs with his family at the quiet oceanfront community of Kailua.

According to biographer Ian Halperin, Michael Jackson is gravely ill and suffering from emphysema, chronic gastrointestinal bleeding as well as a life-threatening lung condition.

Halperin, who has just finished a book about the pop star, says Jackson developed an alpha-1 anti-trypsin deficiency and told The Sun that he “needs a lung transplant, but may be too weak to go through with it.”

“He can barely speak. The vision in his left eye is 95 per cent gone.” Halperin also said.

Jackson’s older brother Jermaine confirmed to the paper “He’s not doing so well right now. This isn’t a good time.”

British tabloid The Sun has raised the ire of Batman fans with news that Eddie Murphy will play the Riddler in the next installment of the comic book blockbuster due in 2010.

While Eddie Murphy’s rep denied the Riddler rumour to Access Hollywood, The Sun is also reporting that Shia LaBeouf will be sidekicking it as Robin and Rachel Weisz will play Catwoman.

Some are dismissing Murphy in the Riddler role as rumour but, considering The Sun accurately reported that Daniel Craig would be the next Bond, fans should get used to the idea of the Norbit star moving into the Gotham neighborhood.

Blindie wishes the early rumours of Johnny Depp as the Riddler and Angelina Jolie as Catwoman were true.
