Blackbird: Internet Browsing While Black

First came RushmoreDrive touting itself as a Google for black people, and now there’s Blackbird, an internet browser catering to yep, you guessed it, black people.

Developed by 40A, Inc., Blackbird is a new internet browser powered by Mozilla, outfitted with web 2.0 features and a software application designed specifically for the African American community.

Do black people really need their own special internet browser, let alone a separate search engine?

Well, the folks at Blackbird think so and boast on their website that “browsing black is better.” They also cite this gem of a statistic: “[African Americans] are twice as likely to be among the first to discover new trends and use advanced technology compared to the general population.”
