Oprah Winfrey Tops Women in Entertainment Power 100 List
Now that Barack Obama is the MOST fascinating person of 2008, Queen of Talk (er, Media) Oprah Winfrey, is the the most powerful woman in entertainment.
The head and face of Harpo, Inc. tops The Hollywood Reporter‘s 17th annual Women in Entertainment: Power 100 special issue, which honors the top 100 women in the motion picture and TV industries.
“The decision to place Oprah at the top of the list was based on her dizzying array of Oprah-branded media and her immense cultural influence,” Hollywood Reporter Editor-in-Chief Elizabeth Guider said. “Today’s most powerful woman in entertainment might just be the most influential woman in America.”
Other notables are Tyra Banks, President of Bankable Productions, at No. 36; Tina Fey, executive producer/writer/star of 30 Rock, at No. 51; and Shonda Rimes, creator/executive producer of Grey’s Anatomy & Private Practice at No. 56.
The list also ranked the Top 10 actresses by salary, with Angelina Jolie at No. 1, Julia Roberts at No. 2, followed by Reese Witherspoon, Cameron Diaz, and America’s new screen queen Katherine Heigl.
