Every time Estelle’s Kanye West-cameod single “American Boy” circulates on our iPod, we can’t help but to get amped. So when we heard the British songstress nabbed five Mobo (Music of Black Origin) Award nominations, we were elated.

The 28-year-old singer earned more nods, including Best UK Female, Album, Song, R&B/Soul and Video, than fresh-faced stunner Leona Lewis, who recently became the first British woman to reach No. 1 in the US singles charts for more than 20 years for her hit, “Bleeding Love.”

More shocking than going face-to-face with hitmaker Lewis, Estelle is reportedly pissed to be going up against white British songstresses Adele & Duffy (whose “Warwick Avenue” we are completely haunted by and ga ga over!).

“It’s hilarious,” Estelle told the London Times. “I’m not mad at ’em – but I’m just wondering, how the hell is there not a single black person in the press singing soul? Adele ain’t soul. She sounds like she heard some Aretha records once and she’s got a deeper voice – that don’t mean she’s soul.”

The 13th annual awards will be held in London on October 15.

Blindie is currently upset with the recent cancellation of Senator Barack Obama’s appearance on Saturday Night Live due to Hurricane Ike.

With his now-cancelled SNL moment (which is being hosted by Olympian Michael Phelps), we were hoping the Democratic presidential candidate would take some headlines back from media-frenzied Sarah Palin.

But his spokeswoman explained, “In light of the unfolding crisis in Texas, Senator Obama has decided it is no longer appropriate to appear on Saturday Night Live tomorrow evening.”

Spike Lee has plans to bring the life story of The Godfather of Soul to the big screen and thinks Wesley Snipes is the right man to fill those sliding shoes.

Lee told King magazine that Snipes is “a phenomenal actor…if my James Brown picture ever gets made, he’ll be playing James, and he’d kill in that, without a doubt. He still has chops.”

The biopic is not listed on IMDB but Lee had reportedly been working on the production with James Brown before the singer’s passing in 2006.

Even though Lee has worked so well with Snipes in the past with Mo’ Better Blues (1990) and Jungle Fever (1991), Blindie would rather see Eddie Murphy play James Brown -remember his impersonation on Delirious in 1983?

Every girl has her favorite–and in the new New Kids on the Block, Joey McIntyre is definitely it. While Jordan Knight comes in in a STRONG second, Joey is heating it up in the band’s catchy new single with Ne-Yo, “Single.”

Outfitted in impeccably fitted suits, the blond cutie is hard to resist.

We admit that when we saw NKOTB debuting “Single” on the Today show last week, we were skeptical. But once the video surfaced, we were playing it on loop, like a school girl screaming over J.T. in ‘N Sync.

Blindie’s ga ga over this sure-to-be hit!
