Tyra Models Herself After Michelle Obama

Supermodel mogul Tyra Banks poses as first lady hopeful Michelle Obama in a spread for Harper’s Bazaar.

Shot by fashion photographer Alexi Lubomirski, Banks and her “superfine male model” Roman provided “a little peek into the possible future if Barack Obama were to win the presidency.”

A behind-the-scenes video of the shoot features the faux first couple posing in the Oval Office and fist-bumping at a ticker tape celebration.

Banks wraps it all up with this priceless line: “Michelle and Barack Obama, y’all just might be going to the White House; I’m going to White Castle…”

Dr. Dre Joins Legion of Rappers Peddling Alcohol

Drinks America Holdings Ltd. announced it will release a cognac and vodka line with Dr. Dre.

The company behind Trump vodka and Willie Nelson’s Old Whiskey River Bourbon will debut a flavored and unflavored sparkling vodka and a cognac brand in liquor stores to coincide with the release of the rapper/producer’s new album, Detox.

Dr. Dre joins many hip-hop personalities who are filling the coffers of high-end alcohol distributors by peddling alcohol to the black community (Diddy endorses Ciroc Vodka; Jay-Z totes Armand de Brignac’s Ace of Spades Champagne; Busta Rhymes created a catchphrase out of passing the Courvoisier).

Blindie EXCLUSIVE: Catching Up With Anya of America’s Next Top Model

Blindie caught up with Anya Kop (who’s real surname is Rozova) on Tuesday night at Metal magazine’s launch party in SoHo, where the America’s Next Top Model finalist talked life-after-ANTM and her new digs in New York.

The Cycle 10 star, who in Blindie’s opinion was shafted of her victory by Tyra’s need to throw a plus-size model the title, moved from Hawaii–that’s where her “bizarre” accent (which is the island’s native pidgin) comes from–to New York five weeks ago.

Having signed with Elite Model Management last month, Anya told Blindie, “I’m so excited. The show was a stepping stone and I can’t wait to prove myself beyond TV.”

The Waipahu, Hawaii native also talked about her adventures in the Big Apple (she’s got a cute condo in SoHo furnished by Elite), and how she’s adapting. “I’ve been to Jones Beach, it’s amazing!” Anya said. “I know it’s not Hawaii, but you know what? I’m in New York now, so I love it. I can’t wait to go to Fire Island.”

I guess you can take the Hawaii girl off the island, but not the island out of the girl. Good luck, Anya!

Black History Museum Opening This Fall in Little Rock

Arkansas’s Mosaic Templars Cultural Center opens this September on the site of the Mosaic Templars of America, a fraternal organization founded by two former slaves, according to the AP.

“It’s everyone’s history. It’s everyone’s center,” director Constance Sarto said of the museum which is honoring African-American heritage.

The four-story building, which is located at what used to be the black business district of Little Rock, is another in a line of recent museums dedicated to African American history. (The Smithsonian Institution is also opening the National Museum of African American History and Culture in 2015).

Admission to the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center will be free year-round.

Toby Keith on Obama: ‘He Doesn’t Talk Act Or Carry Himself Like A Black Person’

It seems the mainstream media didn’t pick up on this gem of a quote from country music singer Toby Keith as he ruminated on the racial characteristics of Barack Obama. Thanks to YouTube, Blindie got it!

Last week, Keith was a guest on the the Glenn Beck radio show (dubbed “The third most listened to program in all of America”), where he said of Senator Obama:

I think that the black people would say, he don’t talk, act, or carry himself as a black person…I’m saying that’s what I think that they would say. Even though the black society would pull for him, I still think that they think in the back of their mind that the only reason that he is in is because he talks, acts and carries himself as a Caucasian.

This is the same misguided singer who recorded a “patriotic” song in response to 9/11, “Courtesy of the Red, White, & Blue (The Angry American)” in 2002, and feuded with the Dixie Chicks over their opinions about President George W. Bush. He also recorded the album, White Trash With Money, in 2006.
