The trailer for Precious which made waves at Sundance is creating Oscar buzz for Mo'Nique in her first dramatic role. The film, which is an adaptation of Sapphire's beloved novel Push, changed its title to avoid conflict with the Dakota Fanning sci-fi flick. The drama is about a teen girl (played by Gabourey Sidibe) wrestling with pregnancy, poverty, and an abusive mother (Mo'Nique). We can't wait for the flick (which also stars Mariah Carey and Paula Patton) to hit theaters!

Madea Goes To Jail Sets Box-Office Record!

Blindie may not think it's art, but Tyler Perry's Madea Goes To Jail didn't only TOP the weekend box office, it set a Hollywood record. Pulling in an impressive $41.1 million, Perry's flick was the largest opening weekend gross on the fewest amount of screens ever (2,032, to be exact!). It was also the highest grossing weekend opening in Lionsgate history. “It just tells you the power of the brand that is Tyler Perry,” Paul Dergarabedian, president of Media By Numbers, said of Perry, who opened his multi-million dollar studio in Atlanta last October.

Tyler Perry Writes Movie For Jennifer Hudson: ‘It’d be Really Cathartic For Her’

Jennifer Hudson's resilience and strength through her family murder tragedy has inspired art--at least in the form of an upcoming Tyler Perry movie. "I just wrote a movie for her that I'm really excited about," the 39-year-old media mogul told People magazine at the premiere of Madea Goes to Jail. "I'm hoping she'll be able to do it." "Looking and talking to [Jennifer], there's sadness in her eyes, but my thoughts and prayers are always with her," Perry added. "That's one of the reasons why I want her to do this role, because I think it'd be really cathartic for her to take it on and work through some things." Of the prospective project, Perry says, "[Jennifer] says that she's been wanting to work with me for a a very long time and I definitely want to work with her. We just have to find the right time."

Tyler Perry Admits He’s Stalking Diana Ross For His New Film A Jazz Man’s Blues

Hollywood mogul Tyler Perry may have a hit television show, a string of successful movies, and even his own multi-million dollar production studio, but he's not above stalking a diva. During a press junket for his latest film Madea Goes To Jail, Perry revealed he has been stalking Diana Ross to play a role in his upcoming film A Jazz Man's Blues. Perry says, "I want her in the film. I've been sending flowers. I've been sending people by her. I've been sending emails to people who know her. I've talked to the man who walks her dog. I've been trying to locate where she's at. Is she in this part of the country? Is she doing a concert somewhere? Can I get backstage?" Blues is set around 1947 and Perry feels Ross will bring the same magic she brought to the 1972 Billie Holiday biopic Lady Sings the Blues which was set around the same time period. Ben Kingsley, Cicely Tyson and Kimberly Elise are also part of Perry's dream cast, as well as himself -of course! Blindie would love to see Ms. Ross return to the screen especially in a 1940s blues drama!

Eva Marcille, who won America's Next Top Model in cycle 3, has announced her engagement to Tyler Perry's House of Payne star Lance Gross, according to Essence. "I cried. It was totally unexpected. I'm still in shock," Marcille (who formerly had the surname Pigford) said. "I could not even sleep because I was afraid that I might wake up from the most beautiful dream ever." The couple, who met while working on set together, have been dating since 2007. "I'm proud to call Lance mine because I was in love with him before we ever met," she added. "He's my dream guy." Tyler Perry Becomes First African American To Launch Major Film And TV Studio

Hollywood heavy hitters Oprah Winfrey, Will Smith and Sidney Poitier were on hand at a huge bash to celebrate and witness the unveiling of filmmaker Tyler Perry's new multi-million dollar film and television studio in southwest Atlanta on Saturday. The more than 200,000 square foot production complex is housed in a former Delta Air Lines' business center and features sound stages named after some of the most influential African American entertainers of the twentieth century -Quincy Jones, Sidney Poitier, Ruby Dee and Cicely Tyson. The momentous occasion was marred only slightly by Writers Guild of America picketers outside the celebratory party protesting against the recent firing of four writers from Perry's TV sitcom House of Payne. Perry is the first African American to open a major film and television studio and plans to shoot his TBS sitcoms House of Payne and Meet The Browns at the new complex. PHOTO: AP
