The screening of the romantic dramedy The Good Guy at the TriBeCa Film Festival naturally had Blindie all giddy with Gilmore Girls star Alexis Bledel and Friday Night Lights‘ Scott Porter in lead roles.
But we left the theater impressed by Aaron Yoo and Jessalyn Wanlim, who, as best friends of both lead characters, made us crack up.
Wanlim, who played Bledel’s bestie and coworker Jordan, deadpanned during a hilarious waxing scene on why their other girlfriend didn’t tag along for a team waxing: “Because she didn’t want to get her vagina ripped off!”
While Yoo, who’s a familiar face from Disturbia with Shia LaBeouf and Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, goes against type with slick-back douchey Wall Street boy hair and tailored suits.
As Steve-O, the up for anything financial party boy, he takes back tequila shots, unsuccessfully hits on blondes (“Since it looks like I’m not f–king her…Good luck!”) and calling his darts team “Blasian” because he’s teamed with a black Brit.
We’re looking forward to seeing more from these two actors in the future.
VH1 reality series muse Tiffany “New York” Pollard is ready to entertain the masses yet again (and set the work Obama has done for our race back centuries) with another reality show: New York Goes to Work, where she’ll take a new job each week a la The Simple Life.
In honor of the Flavor of Love-I Love New York-New York Goes to Hollywood train wreck, Blindie’s paying homage to her most ridiculous moments:
1. Pumpkin Spits on New York on Flavor of Love
During the first season of Flavor of Love, Brooke “Pumpkin” Thompson and New York get into an argument at the elimination, ending with the trashy blonde spitting in New York’s face. She tries to escape post saliva swap, but New York catches her and pushes her to the ground!
2. Flav Dumps New York (Again!)
Once rejected on season one of Flavor of Love finale, New York unexpectedly returns in the second season. But the combative New York is called too “dramatical” by Flav and he chooses bootylicious London “Deelishis” Charles. It ends well though with VH1 giving New York her own show, I Love New York.
3. Tango Dumps New York
After choosing Ninja Turtle-esque Patrick “Tango” Hunter on the first season of I Love New York, Tango flips the script at the reunion show. Telling New York, “I am done with New York. I proposed to Tiffany, but I got New York,” he dumps her on national TV. Season 2 is given the greenlight!
4. New York Chooses Tailor Made
In the second season finale of her dating show, New York surprisingly picks her whipping boy George “Tailor Made” Weisgerber over the explosive meathead Ezra “Buddha” Masters. Although she turns down his proposal on the finale, she accepts his second proposal on the reunion show. Needless to say, they eventually call it quits.
5. New York Tries Acting
VH1 gives New York another chance at reality–this time in her career. Trying her hand at becoming a “real” actress, the reality star goes to Hollywood in pursuit of the ridiculous dream–including filming a cameo as herself on Nip/Tuck!
Three people were arrested and six others were injured on Saturday after a riot ensued outside of the Park Central New York hotel where auditions for the 13th season of Tyra Banks’ hit reality show America’s Next Top Model were being held.
Women no taller than 5-foot-7 turned out in droves for a chance to be a contestant on the special season of Top Model dedicated to short ladies.
Sky News reports a car spewing smoke pulled up to the line of contestants then a man jumped out and began grabbing women’s bags causing fights and a stampede.
Authorities shut down the audition citing it was improperly organized and many model hopefuls fled leaving their shoes, clothes and sleeping bags littering the street.
Every New Yorker knows a blackout in the city can be dangerous, but apparently a blackout on the Upper East-Side is a dangerous liaison filled with seduction, scandal, and surprises!
Here are Blindie’s Top Ten moments:
Chuck is unmotivated by the ladies (physically!), confessing “I’m feeling a little off my game” and sets his sights on Blair to alleviate his umm…blockage. To which Serena exclaims, “You are not using Blair as sexual draino!“
Jenny gets caught playing Project Runway designer instead of subservient intern, and like Heidi Klum, Eleanor Waldorf tells her she is out!
Chuck tells Blair he admires her “cool exterior” and “fire below.” And did we actually see Blair’s eyes roll back in ecstasy as Chuck seduced her out of her couture?
Vanessa catches Nate with his cougar sugarmama and says, “I didn’t sign up for some creepy love triangle with you and someone’s mom!“
Jenny continues to serve up some of that reality medicine she spooned out to Blair in the first season and bonds with Eleanor by giving her some much needed critique on her “pilgrim at a funeral” frock.
Total wasted use of an elevator: Serena and Dan did not get it on, but officially called it off!
Blair running from Chuck’s arms to another boy she’s convinced herself she really wants without hardly missing a beat (yet again!).
Eleanor acknowledges Little Jenny’s talents and hires her back, then sends her father Rufus and his date on a sandwich & coffee run!
Nate is officially a kept man! Hello? Why does the ambiguous ethnic girl have to fall for the gigolo? Speaking of ethnic, what happened to Blair’s African American and Asian accessory friends?
Chuck STILL can’t get off (er, up) for the ladies!!!
London native Jourdan Dunn (who appears on the latest cover of i-D Magazine) has many modeling accomplishments under her slim belt, including appearing on one of four Italian Vogue covers, being the first black model to walk the Prada runway in ten years, and closing the spring Rodarte show in New York on Tuesday.
Of her signature runway walk that rivals her mentor Naomi Campbell’s, the 19-year-old fashion star told Teen Vogue, “I practice a lot. My mum got me these hooker shoes and I walk around the house in them all day. I can walk in anything after those!”
Here’s a timeline of Jourdan’s latest looks fresh off the most prestigious runways:
Two of Blindie’s favorite It Girls, Zoe Saldana and Joy Bryant, stepped out for the Max Azria Spring 2009 Fashion show in New York on Tuesday.
In addition to Bryant and Saldana, 27 Dresses star Malin Akerman, socialite Tinsley Mortimer, Olympic gold medalist Nastia Liukin, singer Natasha Bedingfield, and Gossip Girl drop-in Michelle Trachtenberg also attended the show.
Blindie’s ga ga supermodel-in-the-making Chanel Iman also strutted her sticks on the catwalk!
In less than 5,900 minutes, the Pulitzer and Tony-winning musical Rent will be closing its doors (on Sept. 7) at the Nederlander Theatre in New York.
With the end of this era (12 blissful years, to be exact), Blindie presents the Top Five lasting impressions this groundbreaking musical left behind—and why we, Rent Heads, will always measure our lives in love:
For shining a positive, yet realistic light on HIV/AIDS—and presenting the real struggle of being young and LIVING with the disease.
For introducing us to life in Alphabet City, and the journey of striving to create that “one blaze of glory“—the work that will make an artist (a writer, film creator, musician) feel their life was meant something.
For being bold enough to show a masculine man fall in love with a loving drag queen, who teaches him and all of his friends the true meaning of love and friendship: “I’ll cover you!”
For showing us a lasting example of love through the journey and struggles of Afro-Latina Mimi and edgy white rocker Roger.
For urging us to believe that there is “No day but today!“
