Miss Venezuela Stefania Fernandez Is Crowned Miss Universe 2009

[caption id="attachment_4299" align="alignright" width="451" caption="Photo:AP"]Bahamas Miss Universe[/caption] Miss Venezuela Stefania Fernandez won the Miss Universe 2009 crown on Sunday at the Atlantis, Paradise Island resort in the Bahamas, marking the sixth title win for the South American country. The 18 year-old is the 58th winner of the Miss Universe title and received the crown from last year's winner Venezuelan Dayana Mendoza. The first runner-up is Miss Dominican Republic, Ada Aimee de la Cruz and the second runner-up is Miss Kosovo Gona Dragusha. The other top 15 contestants includes Miss France Chloe Mortaud, who is of African American descent, along with Miss Australia Rachael Finch, Miss Puerto Rico Mayra Matos Perez, Miss South Africa Tatum Keshwar, Miss Czech Republic Iveta Lutovska, Miss Switzerland Whitney Toyloy, Miss USA Kristen Dalton, Miss Albania Hasna Xhukici, Miss Belgium Zeynep Sever, Miss Croatia Sarah Cosic, Miss Iceland Ingibjorg Egilsdottir, and Miss Sweden Renate Cerljen.

Miss USA Crystle Stewart of Texas repeats a blunder that Miss USA 2007 Rachel Smith encountered at last year's Miss Universe Pageant: she falls on her behind!
