Confessions of an ObamaVoter: The War with the Media Heats Up

In an ugly turn of events, the ever mutating Senator John McCain has fully embraced the Karl Rove swiftboat politics which he himself was victim to in the 2000 election, by flooding the airwaves with a new wave of offenses. Alaskan Distraction, Governor Sarah Palin, renewed McCain’s campaign like a shot of botox after her effective (and outrageous) RNC speech. Her headline-grabbing persona has acted as a political smoke screen to leverage the McCain camp's most devious and outright shameful attacks yet: Lipstickgate ‘sexist’ allegations and a perverse deception to paint Obama as a pedophile. Palin coverage also overshadowed Obama’s engaging interview with Fox News’ Bill O‘Reilly, whose questions were aggressive, tough and fair (I NEVER thought I’d be giving props to O‘Reilly). But, the Fox hothead even defended Obama from McCain’s fabricated lipstick controversy. So how long will the fawning Palin coverage last? Is the collective media that McCain once considered his base ever going to challenge (besides O‘Reilly factor…oh the irony!) the McCain campaign lies? In an exclusive interview with ABC's Charlie Gibson, Palin was clearly out of her element and circumvented with every answer: Chairperson of Alaska’s energy = national security experience? Trips to Canada, Mexico, Germany and Kuwait = foreign relations experience? Is against abortion even in cases of rape and incest? Was for the bridge to nowhere before she was against it? Is willing to go to war with Russia? And then there was McCain's interview with the fine ladies of The View, where Barbara Walters and Joy Behar lit McCain up! When asked about Palin, McCain struggled to find answers about her national security experience (cited her head of Alaskan energy as qualifications…pretty flimsy!) and her alleged history as a reformer. When asked about his recent nasty attack ads, McCain actually asserted the ads were true! Let’s hope that the watchdog nature of our press will continue to give the people what they deserve…the truth.
