African American And French Chloe Mortaud Wins Miss France Pageant

Chloe Mortaud won the Miss France pageant at the Puy du Fou theme park in Vendée, France on Saturday. The 19 year-old international business student represented the region of Albigeois-Midi-Pyrénées located in the southwest of France. Born in the northern French town of Lisieux, Mortaud boasts an African American mother from Mississippi and tells the Associated Press she wants to "incarnate ... today's French diversity" and show that "fear of the other is unfounded."

Ga Ga: French Tennis Player Jo-Wilfried Tsonga

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga tops our list of one-to-watch athletes for 2009. The 23 year-old French tennis player ranked number six in the world after competing in the season-ending tournament this past Sunday in Shanghai. Dubbed the "Muhammad Ali of Tennis" because of his likeness to the boxer, Tsonga burst onto the world scene when he won his first Masters Series title by defeating Argentinean player David Nalbandian at the BNP Paribas Masters tournament on November 2. He also became the first player from his country to win a Masters tournament since Sébastien Grosjean won the trophy in 2001. Tsonga was born in Le Mans, France to a French mother and a Congolese father and also boasts Newcastle United's midfielder Charles N'Zogbia as a cousin. Blindie is ga ga for "Jo-Wil" and will be following him closely when he plays South African Tennis Open in February.

Zoe Saldana was front and center at the Chirstian Dior show in France on Monday while our other favorite Zoe was spotted with her dad Lenny Kravitz at the edgy designer Rick Owen's show sitting front row and clad in conspicuously red patent shoes. Seated next to Harry Potter's Emma Watson, Saldana shared some details about her wardrobe in the upcoming remake of "Star Trek." "I wore very short, short, short dresses, it was petrifying," she said.
