Model Chanel Iman Introduces ‘ChanelImanTV’ on YouTube

One of Blindie's favorite models Chanel Iman has joined the viral video community, creating her own YouTube channel, ChanelImanTV. Besides galavanting around New York City with her besties, the up-and-coming model has clips of her glamming her mum up during a break at a photo shoot and dancing with her BFF (whom Blindie believes is Baby Phat junior designer Jerome from Kimora Lee's reality TV show) to her favorite song on her laptop. "The least I could do is make this YouTube channel for you," she says in her first video post. "So you could get to know me better!"

Chanel Iman Breaks Runway Barriers For Black Models at Gucci Show in Milan

Blindie's favorite up-and-coming model Chanel Iman broke barriers on the Gucci runway during Spring 2009 Fashion Week in Milan on Wednesday. The 18-year-old beauty became the first black model to walk the megabrand's catwalk since it was helmed by designer Tom Ford. It was only in February that fellow model model Jourdan Dunn became the first black model to walk the runway for Prada in ten years.

Naomi Campbell Walks Runway With Chanel Iman At Fashion For Relief

Naomi Campbell walked the runway Wednesday at the National History Museum in London with model-on-the-rise Chanel Iman as part of Fashion For Relief. So far there have been no reports of hair pulling, phones flying or bitchery of any sort. Prancing down the runway together, the two beauties even wore the same dress! Chanel in soft pink and Naomi in black. Estelle also strutted down the runway in a leopard print dress as did Tyson Beckford in full body motorcycle gear, which he then peeled off to reveal his impeccable upper body. Established in 2005, Fashion For Relief aids victims and survivors of Hurricane Katrina and raises money for the White Ribbon Alliance which campaigns for safe pregnancy and childbirth in developing nations.

Blindie's assuming that this Italian Vogue thing is really catching on, as model Chanel Iman is featured on Time Magazine's Style & Design Issue. In the issue, the magazine explores the recent trend of using black models, but argues that the industry "has often cycled through ethnicities," noting its use of black models in the 70s, Brazilians in the 90s, and Russians & East Europeans most recently. "White faces, however, have always been in vogue—not surprising, given that most of the decision makers in the industry are white," the magazine observes.
