Critic Says Twilight ‘Trespassed’ Taylor Lautner & Nikki Reed with ‘Race-Changing Makeup’

A film review of Twilight by the University of Minnesota's student paper criticizes Summit Entertainment for changing the skin color of actors Taylor Lautner (who plays Native American Jacob Black) and Nikki Reed (who plays translucent blond vampire Rosalie Hale) to fit their roles in the blockbuster vampire flick. "The make-up artists and casters, for some reason or another, decided that it was ok to change the race of actors if need be, and did so in at least two noticeable occasions," critic Rebecca Lang, who calls these actions "trespasses," says. "Taylor Lautner is painted brown and given a long black wig to play the Native American character Jacob Black," she points out, "and Thirteen star Nikki Reed appears to have been bleached white and stuck in a blonde wig. Naturally quite striking, the new look leaves her ... puffy." While Lautner is actually part-Native American, Reed previously admitted that her transformation was the most dramatic. The brunette admitted to damaging her hair to go blond and even going as far as undergoing skin-bleaching procedures to lighten her glowing olive complexion. "I had the biggest transformation out of everybody," Reed said during press junkets for the film. "I actually dyed my hair blonde and bleached my skin. Everything of mine that I associate with myself, like my mole, that was all gone. So I had to look in the mirror and see a different person every day."

Gossip Girl Watch: Stolen Boyfriends And Snowflake Balls

What better way to fill our post-Thanksgiving, pre-Christmas days than with a little Gossip Girl drama. The Jenny Humphrey, Nate Archibald, Vanessa Abrams love triangle finally comes to a head -again. Chuck Bass and Blair Waldorf are still trying to resist each other's poisoned charms. Lily Bass and Rufus Humphrey are regretting the missed opportunity to hook up -again, and Serena van der Woodsen and Dan Humphrey are still pretending they don't have feelings for each other. Here are Blindie's top ten WTF moments from Gossip Girl's "It's a Wonderful Lie" episode:

  1. Vanessa locks lips with Nate right after listening to Jenny wistfully wonder what became of her almost fling with him. Vanessa is busted when a photo of the PDA ends up on the Gossip Girl blog.
  2. Aaron Rose's ex-girlfriend Lexi disses his photo exhibit featuring Serena, comparing it to a GAP ad. Hey! We like GAP ads. Lexi's pretention reaches an all time high when she orders a cup of Kopi Luwak coffee, you know, that coffee that's passed through the digestive system of the Asian Palm Civet -basically coffee beans that are shat out by cats!
  3. Chuck and Blair choose each other's dates for the Snowflake Ball to prove they know each other's desires and what does Chuck want as a reward? Blair's most prized possession -her maid Dorota!
  4. Vanessa confesses to Nate that she stole his love letter to Jenny and that she never felt like this way about anyone before, blah blah. While we love the ethnically ambiguous Jessica Szohr as Vanessa we are not liking her man-grubbing storyline.
  5. Jenni conspires with Blair's back up girls to pull a Carrie on Vanessa and humiliate her at the Snowflake Ball with a see-through dress. Really? This is the Upper East Side where maids are traded in bets. You gotta come harder than a see-through dress.
  6. Nate had the nerve to tell off Jenni for sabotaging Vanessa claiming he's glad they didn't hook up because she's not the Jenny he thought he knew. Hmm, we wonder if Jenny knew that Nate was once pimping himself out to a married woman?
  7. It's Bizarro world again on Gossip Girl as Chuck and Blair dig up cheap knock-offs of themselves for each other to date. When they catch their doubles hooking up Blair laments "even our doppelgangers can work it out!"
  8. Serena and Dan spend the entire night at the Snowflake Ball pretending not to care the other will bed their date after the party.
  9. Lily and Rufus find themselves face to face once again, and regretting another missed opportunity to be together, again.
  10. Bart Bass in an accident?! After seeing snippets of the next episode it's clear there's a funeral scene so it's safe to assume that Bart is dead and the Bass empire will now be under the rule of Chuck. Looks like Lily won't be needing that divorce anymore.

Lewis Hamilton Planning Trip On Virgin’s Galactic Spaceship

Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton is planning to shell out almost $1 million for seats aboard the first commercial flight of Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic SpaceShipTwo. The space trip is slated for 2010 and Hamilton is said to be bringing his father Anthony and girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger, of the Pussycat Dolls, along for the ride. Sigourney Weaver will probably be on Hamilton's flight as the Aliens' star had requested a seat aboard the spacecraft back in 2004. William Shatner, however will not be on the flight. In 2006 television's Captain Kirk turned down a free seat saying, "I'm interested in man's march into the unknown but to vomit in space is not my idea of a good time. Neither is a fiery crash with the vomit hovering over me. I do want to go up but I need guarantees I'll definitely come back."

Gossip Girl Watch: It’s Fashion Frenzy As Blair Conspires, Serena Sparkles, And Dan And Chuck Land In Jail

The frenzy of Fashion Week may be over in New York but it was just getting started on Gossip Girl. Secrets were revealed, backs were stabbed, and socialites sparkled. Just another day in the life of an Upper East Sider! Here are Blindie's highlights and lowlights:

  1. Jenny ditches her high-priced prep school to work full time at Eleanor Waldorf's atelier and attend Fashion Week.
  2. Goody Two-Shoe Dan Humphrey seeks out bad boy Chuck Bass to help him venture out of his comfort zone and write a good story, which prompts Chuck to ask, "Are you gay?"
  3. Chuck pulls Dan over to the dark side by plying him with alcohol then pressuring him to take a pill and go "down the rabbit hole" by chiding "either you're in for the full ride or you're out."
  4. Dan gets into a bar fight when he sticks up for Chuck, landing them both in jail!
  5. Chuck shows us his vulnerable side as he pitifully tries to get quality time with his father and then reveals to Dan that his mother died giving birth to him. Of course Chuck later retracts the heart-wrenching story and puts Dan on warning for belying his confidence.
  6. Bart Bass has a police file on his new wife, which includes her college letters. Geez, is that how the Bass men express their love?
  7. Blair is in full sabotage mode as she rats out Jenny to her dad, rearranges the seating chart for her mother's fashion show putting Serena in the back row, sends the all of the models home and then switches dresses on Serena -all in an effort to humiliate Jenny.
  8. Dan asks Chuck "How do you know so many twins?" And Chuck answers "twins find me." We never get tired of dialogue like that!
  9. After Serena's new friend, Peggy Lifton, advises her to stop hiding her light and being less sparkly just to spare Blair's feelings, Serena stomps it out on the runway and works it for the paparazzi!
  10. Blair shows a glimmer of kindness as she sticks up for Jenny when Eleanor Waldorf finds out Serena walked the catwalk in the wrong dress. Is Blair finally starting to realize that Jenny is more like her than she wanted to admit and probably her only friend right now.
  11. Jenny not only ignores her father's call on her cell, but she denies him entry to the fashion show! Looks like it's time for Rufus to stop paying those school fees and send someone to public school. Good thing Jenny is planning to drop out of school anyways.
  12. And where is Chace Crawford as sulky Nate and Jessica Szohr as ambiguously ethnic Vanessa?! We were so into their unrequited love story!
