RuPaul shut down any comparison critics may have had about his new reality series RuPaul’s Drag Race and Tyra Banks’ reality series America’s Next Top Model during a recent press tour in Los Angeles.
When asked if he owed anything to Tyra the cross-dressing diva blurted out to a crowd of reporters, “She learned everything from me darling! Don’t give me no Tyra … ! That’s it! I let her borrow all my used wigs. That’s it!”
“This was a show that had to be made, darling! Egg? Chicken? It’s here, eat it up! Egg? Chicken? Chicken, egg? What came first? I don’t care! Give me my breakfast!”
And if you still think RuPaul’s reality show about drag queens competing to win the title of America’s next “Drag Queen Superstar,” reminds you in even the slightest way of a bunch of models vying for the title of “America’s Next Top Model”, “then you’re retarded,” RuPaul says.
RuPaul’s Drag Race debuts Feb. 2 on the LOGO channel.

What better way to promote a reality show about competing drag queens than by dressing up as two of the newest icons of politics and pop culture?
Posing as both Michelle and Barack “RuPaul celebrates the holidays and the history-making Obamas in a commemorative holiday card of presidential proportions,” to promote his new Logo show RuPaul Drag Race.
Taking a page from Tyra Banks’ reality book, who by the way also posed as Michelle Obama for Harper’s Bazaar, Drag Race will have queens from all over the U.S. competing to be crowned the next “Drag Queen Superstar.”
RuPaul will play the role of two different judges: a Tim Gunn-esque supportive nice guy and a nasty Nina Garcia-like glam girl. Beat that Tyra!

As soon as Season 4 designer Chris March came out dressed as a Viking woman with disco balls for breast plates, Blindie knew this was going to be an episode filled with melodramatics–and delusions of grandeur.
So when the designers were given the task of creating outfits for big and busty drag queens with names like Annida Greenkard, Hedda Lettuce and Miss Understood, we kept track of the Top Ten priceless moments of the episode:
1. Keith, Stella and Leanne complain about Blayne’s overuse of the suffix “licious” and Leanne even threatens to barf…licious.
2. Suede channels his dead grandfather to create a Godzilla gardening outfit that goes unappreciated by his model Hedda Lettuce. But after a one-on-one in the sewing room and a hug session, Lettuce gets on board with the green concept.
3. Blayne interprets Tim Gunn’s critique of his drag dress -a “Pterodactyl out of a gay Jurassic park,” as the greatest compliment.
4. Keith creates yet another fringe dress that reminds Michael Kors of a “messy molting chicken” and lands him on the chopping block.
5. The usually dramatic Jerell disappoints with a Thoroughly Modern Millie dress that Michael Kors describes as “a good Bar Mitzvah moment.”
6. Random drag queen sound bites: “Tim call me,” one queen calls out as he/she leaves the cutting room; “I can break a rib overnight,” Stella’s drag model exclaims as he/she squeezes into his design.
7. A gaunt looking RuPaul sits in to judge the challenge and pays Terri the ultimate drag compliment by comparing her dress to Diana Ross’ film Mahogany.
8. Delusional Daniel refuses to use sequins because it would make him throw up and instead makes a South Beach sherbet-colored maxi dress that gets him kicked off the show.
9. Then Daniel has the nerve to steal Heidi Klum’s signature send-off “Auf Wiedersehen” before she even gets a chance to say it. Hello, this is Heidi’s show–you are out!
10. And ironically, Joe, who complained about divas in a previous episode and practically winced when the drag queens filed into the design room, pulls off the best drag outfit and even manages to hide his queen’s “candy” really well.
