Media Overhype: Did Obama Call Tiger Woods and offer support?

Either you're outraged to hear that President Barack Obama is busy calling Tiger Woods to console him during his time of sexual scandal instead of fixing the healthcare plan OR you can sniff out media hype a mile away. Apparently the rumor that Obama "made a personal call to offer encouragement" to Woods, has been traced back to Golf Digest, as reported by VanityFair.com, don't worry it's been expunged already (ah, the convenience of online reporting), but not before a ton of blogs ran with the story, including PerezHilton.com. Latest rumor has it, Bill Clinton called Tiger. Now that we can believe -the man has been known to make bad choices, and even People.com ran with that story!

serena-williams-espnTennis sensation Serena Williams bares her birthday suit for the cover of ESPN magazine's first Body Issue which debuted this past Friday. "They told me that I have a great body and wanted me for the cover, and I was super flattered that they asked. I think they did a great job with the photos," Williams said. South African Runner Semenya Shows off Girly Make-Over for Cover of You Magazine

caster-semenya-you-magazine-2caster-semenya-3 Maybe it was to silence the critics who claim she's really a man, or maybe she just wanted to feel glamorous in make-up and pretty clothes like most woman. Whatever the case, South African runner Caster Semenya cleaned up and dolled up for a fashion shoot in the September issue of South African magazine YOU.

Last month's world track championhsips thrust 18 year-old Semenya into the spotlight as her gender was brought into question. One of her coaches, Wilfried Daniels, has since resigned amidst the controversy claiming he was ashamed of being “part of the collective responsibility and blame” for having Semenya unknowingly gender tested and the resulting public scandal for what should have been a private medical issue.

Semenya says in the magazine, “I'd like to dress up more often and wear dresses but I never get the chance. I'd also like to learn to do my own make-up” and: “I've never bought my own clothes – my mum buys them for me. But now that I know what I can look like, I'd like to dress like this more often.”

Some critics like UK's Times Online aren't buying Semenya's timely make-over or the necessity for her to even force a feminine appearance, calling her a pawn in the politics of sports.

1A22A6981A22A699 Photo: Sara Jaye Weiss Tennis pros James Blake and Venus Williams were among the celebs at Heineken's USTA US Open Official Player Party at Skyline Studios in New York on Friday. Proving to be a party early bird, Blake was there before the action was in full swing and we even spied him making a beeline for the door way before midnight. Gossip Girl's Penn Badgely and Matthew Settle and stylist Keino Benjamin were among the non-tennis revelers, but sadly Blake Lively sat this one out. Noticeably missing from the party was Venus' other and arguably better half Serena Williams and French player Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Ok, so maybe only we were looking for Tsonga. But conspicuously present was Vince Offer, the ShamWow pitchman, who played Wii Tennis with his date.
