Gossip Girl Watch: Adoption, College Acceptance And Drama At The Opera

We thought that after the Rufus and Lily spin off was announced, their Gossip Girl lovefest would take a backseat to the teenage drama, but the parent PDA continues! And what's with the obsession over Yale? Pick another Ivy League, there are seven others! Here are Blindie's top moments from Gossip Girl's "You've Got Yale" episode:

  1. Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick) tries every trick in the Blair Waldorf book of backstabbing and then some to kick his Uncle Jack out of the company - from planting drugs, to setting him up with a transsexual and putting his name on Megan's' List (the California sex offender's list).
  2. Rufus Humphrey (Matthew Settle) and Lily van der Woodsen (Kelly Rutherford) are playing sleep-over and her daughter Serena complains she is "pretending not to hear what [she} hears in the middle of the night." Awkward!
  3. Why is Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) still sacrificing herself for Blair (Leighton Meester)? She even gives up her spot at Yale so Blair can move off the wait-list. Bring back bitchy Serena!
  4. Blair gets a dog! We were expecting a Labradoodle or a Portugese Water Hound, because we heard those are quite trendy now.
  5. Genius dialogue from Chuck as he calls Rufus a "half-priced hustler!" and says "I don't care where you import them from, I want them young and unstable," as he orders up some women.
  6. Nice to see Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford) and Vanessa Abrams (Jessica Szohr) still hanging in there with the minimum amount of lines needed to receive a paycheck, but really their scenes were so unnecessary.
  7. Chuck finally gets a mother as Lily follows through with her plans to adopt him to help him gain control of his father's company. And Chuck returns the favor as he comes to Lily's aid when a coked up Uncle Jack tries to rape her at the opera.
  8. Serena oders a home dread-locking kit! Really? There's a home kit?
  9. We love that Serena is choosing the slackers Ivy League, Brown University!
  10. Blair gets schooled by the new teacher! That'll teach her to "act out on people."

Gossip Girl Creator Josh Schwartz Ditches Prep School For Indie Rock In WB.com’s Rockville, CA

Blindie's favorite TV show creator Josh Schwartz, of Gossip Girl fame and the upcoming spin off about the young love affair of GG's Rufus and Lily, is taking his teen action online with the new series Rockville, CA on the WB.com. Schwartz returns to his O.C. setting of California but gets edgy by taping all of the shows -and here's the hook...at the fictional indie Club Rockville set in L.A.'s artsy Echo Park. Music supervisor Alexandra Patsavas wrangles real indie bands for each show, with undiscovered gems like Travis, Kaiser Chiefs, the Broken West, Death Metal, and Frightened Rabbit slated for upcoming shows. When asked why indie music and why web? Schwartz tells Paste magazine, "When I was in my twenties, pre O.C. I spent a lot of time at clubs like the Troubador and Spaceland and would go there multiple times a week. "And so to try and recreate that feeling of being that age and having those venues be your home away from home felt like a fun setting and a great way to incorporate a lot of live music. I love music and I felt like music had succeeded on the Internet. The web has been a good tool for people to discover music and so I thought if I could combine both then that would be ideal." With each episode ranging from four to six minutes, Rockville is an easy way to get your indie music fix while you're downloading to your ipod. As far as breakout talent goes, our money is on Friday the 13th's Ryan Hansen who has appeared in episodes of That's So Raven and Veronica Mars and Terry Tate "Mighty Rasta", who has appeared in Norbit (but, we won't hold that against him) and numerous TV shows over the years from Malcom in the Middle to Prison Break and Numb3rs.

Ga Ga: Travis Fimmel’s Rise From Underwear Model To Patrick Swayze’s Beast Partner

Travis Fimmel is the latest underwear model to embark on a serious acting career and as Patrick Swayze's rookie partner on the new A&E police drama The Beast he has our vote for promising hot young actor. Fimmel, who played Tarzan in a failed WB series, hails from Victoria Australia and once donned Calvin Klein underwear on a London billboard that caused so much traffic and commotion it had to be removed. Now shorn of his long surfer hair, Fimmel tries hard to play down his baby face and Aussie accent to get gritty with Patrick Swayze as a Chicago detective, but just like Swayze he seems meant for the big screen. What Fimmel needs is a serious drama on the big screen to launch a Brad Pitt-like career because the Matthew McConaughey film Surfer, Dude only helped to pigeon-hole him as a pin-up boy. Next up for the Aussie hardbody is the Andrew Chan film Ivory about two pianists in an international competition. Let's hope he's playing a tortured and talented, but very hot pianist. Blindie is ga ga for Travis Fimmel and will be watching his every step to movie stardom.
