Taylor Lautner Meeting with New Moon Director Chris Weitz on Friday: ‘It’s Still All Up in the Air’

At the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Salute to Young Hollywood party in L.A. on Wednesday, Taylor Lautner spoke of his desire to return as Jacob Black in the Twilight sequel, New Moon.
“I’ve been working out since the day we finished filming Twilight. I just weighed myself today; I’ve put on 19 pounds,” Lautner told MTV News of gaining weight to be a much-bigger Jacob. “I’m guaranteeing [director Chris] Weitz 10 more [pounds] by filming.”
Lautner revealed that he’s having lunch with the new director on Friday, hoping to impress him and land the part, which is reportedly going to Scorpion King 2 star Michael Copon.
“I’ve heard a few things,” Lautner said of Copon, who declared he nabbed the role on his personal Facebook page. “I don’t really know too much to comment on it. As far as I know, I haven’t been told ‘no’ yet, so it’s still all up in the air.”
“All I can say is, I’m going to be ready if my number’s called,” Lautner added.

It’s kind of incredible how many men I know are going out with Asian girls. I’ll admit that I do find some Asian women to be very gorgeous, but what do you think the appeal is really based on? Why do some white guys only go out with Asian women…can somebody explain the attraction to me?

I agree with most of u. Taylor Lautner CANNOT be replaced! IF he is, i bet a bunch of girls are going to go set Chris Weitz’s house on fire… I would so do that. And Taylor is perfect for the role, he’s way buffer than he was in Twilight and he fits the description in the book almost perfectly. If “blackanese” (black and chinese, no offense to anyone) Michael Copon is casted i and my friends will NOT go see the movie! SO THERE CHRISTOPHER WEITZ! IF U DO NOT CAST TAYLOR LAUTNER AS JACOB BLACK NO ONE, I REPEAT NO ONE WILL GO SEE YOUR MOVIE!
i especially agree with Deeee, Carrie, and most of all Fan 101!!! Fan 101 has nailed it!!!!!! taylor is perfect for the entire role! he’s proving to everyone that he can do it! the new director and whoever hates taylor, can (like fan 101 said) SUCK IT!!!!!!! I LOVE TAYLOR!!!!!!

i am wearing my team jacob bracelet right now and it is the worst idea ever to change jacob! taylor lautner is amazing, and michael copon seems so terrible. they dont look the same. if they really needed to, the could use the effects used in benjamin button (with brad pitt) to make him look older!

I honestly believe taylor should stay as jacob black for these reasons:
1. taylor is Jacob black
2. its stupid to change a main character after its 1st movie.
3. its unfair to taylor
4. its unfair to the fans who love taylor as jake
- taylor won us over as jacob black in twilight even if he has like 6 min. screen time.
- now that we all know and see taylor as jacob. seeing michael would just be…. confusing/terrible.
- taylor is working so hard to prove to everyone and himself that hes ready for this role. give him a chance in new moon*which is like 3/4 jake* to shine and show his potential
- there are fans who love talyor lautner as jacob black. a lot more than michael. i mean its going to be pretty hard to find a 6’5 16 year old whos buff and muscular. evn if taylors not tall enough… hes great for the part. leave him be! all the team jacob fans would be pleased. i know a lot of ppl who wont watch New moon if taylor isnt in it. *including me*

i like michael… but not as jake at all. he just doesnt fit the “jacob black” the reads got from the book or saw/felt from the movie.
It’s so stupid…yes, Copon is nice and so on, but he doesn’t look like Native American (I’ve heard that his Mom is Native American or smth like that!!!)!!! He really looks Asian! And if Taylor is too young for this, he is too OLD!

i will NOT be a happy person if they do replace jacob he is perfect for the part i was so happy when i found out he would be playing the role…… if they replace him so many people will refuse to watch the movie so they really should just keep taylor for jacob……!
At the rate Summit is going, odds are they are going to have a fubar with New Moon. Taylor IS Jacob Black, but if they don’t hire him for the role, maybe he’s lucky to miss the bullet. No disrespect to Copon, but he’s not Jake.

I’m sorry Sabrina! But Taylor is PERFECT for Jacob Black. That Copon is such a douche bag!!! I’ve seen a couple of interviews with him in it and he is an asshole! He doesn’t even look like Taylor or Native American!!!! He looks Asian! I’m glad Taylor is fighting for his role because he is Jacob Black! I will not see New Moon if Copon or any other actor plays Jacob! So keep packing on the pounds Tay! I got your back!

HOLY CRAP!!! If they replace Taylor I am SOOOOOO not going to see New Moon!!!!! I will be a really upset Twilight fan if they replace him and so will all of my friends. None of us will go see it if he is replaced!
