Obama and McCain Make Joint Appearance To Honor 9/11 Victims

Senators Barack Obama and John McCain made a special joint appearance in New York to commemorate the seventh anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States. The two presidential candidates put their political differences aside, shook hands and walked together into the pit where the Twin Towers fell. They also talked with family members of the victims and placed roses in a reflecting pool in memoriam. This is the second presidential campaign since 9/11 and the first year that both Democratic and Republican candidates have appeared at Ground Zero on the anniversary. Almost 3,000 people perished in New York, at the Pentagon and in Pennsylvania on this day seven years ago. PHOTO: AFP

Model-Turned-Actress Joy Bryant Opens Up About Dropping Out of Yale For Fashion

Rising starlet Joy Bryant recently opened up about ditching the Ivy Leagues for the fashion world. "I dropped out of Yale at the end of my sophomore year to model," Bryant, 31, tells the Huffington Post. "I gave myself a year to make it happen." Shortly after leaving college, she was booked for Seventeen magazine's back to school issue. "They seemed to dig my Ivy League credentials," she reflects. "Others seemed shocked that I wasn't an idiot." The fashionista, who has been 'shutting it down' on Bravo's The Rachel Zoe Project, also dishes on her unceremonious meeting with a 'VERY famous designer':

I was on line for at least an hour or so, which SUCKS but that's what you got to do, so you do it. I finally get to the room, where the VERY famous designer is sitting at a long table with a few associates. I say hello, hand my portfolio over, and proceed to "walk" (please reference "Top Model"). I do so and then the VERY famous designer says to me, with a smile of course, "Joy, you are soooo beautiful, but I'm not using black girls this season." (Insert sound of record scratching here). Yeah, he actually said that to my 'beautiful' face. He's lucky he didn't get a black eye.

Up-and-coming supermodel Chanel Iman is the one beauty Blindie's putting our money behind. And with the blur of tulle, leather, spandex and cotton that is Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York, Chanel's been one busy girl. FASHION WEEK: Sophie Theallet Goes All Black For Runway

Brooklyn-based Parisian designer Sophie Theallet debuted her line in New York yesterday with a cast of black models ranging in skin tones. The Azzedine Alaïa disciple insists she was not trying to make a political statement."I was thinking about colors, and they look amazing on dark skin, so it came naturally," Theallet says. Considering she didn't send out a press release announcing the all-black lineup like Carlos Campos, we believe she was going for the aesthetics rather than the novelty. Her summery colllection of flowy fabrics, colorful satins and tropical appliqué flowers did indeed looked amazing on the models. PHOTO: Marcio Madeira/Style.com

The WB Is Back As An Online-Only Network

The network that brought us The Jamie Foxx Show, Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Animaniacs is back! After going off the air in 2006 to make room for The CW, The WB returns as an online network offering up fan favorites originally aired on other networks like Friends, The O.C., and Veronica Mars, and some original content made especially for the web. So far Blindie is liking the WB webisodes that have been rolled out, especially A Boy Wearing Makeup with Alabama native Mathieu Francis (looking like a glammed up Pete Wentz). We just love a boy giving "basic training" tips on makeup application! Sorority Forever is also quickly rising on our fave list with a black character played by newcomer Candice Patton, and Charlie's Angels director and Chuck executive-producer Joseph "McG" Nichol behind the series. We're sure McG has some Skull and Bones surprises lurking around the corner. PHOTO: The WB.com
