Gossip Girl‘s Ed Westwick Stole His WASPy Accent From Fresh Prince‘s Carlton Banks

The guys (Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick) of Gossip Girl appear on the November 2008 cover of Details magazine, where among many things, Crawford says he’s gotta “overcome gayface!”
“Model turned actor, dime a dozen, eye candy, doesn’t know what he’s doing … and Perez Hilton says I have ‘gayface,’” Crawford tells the mag. “So on top of everything else, I have to overcome gayface.”
In addition, our fave Gossip Guy, the deliciously snarky Brit Ed Westwick says he stole his WASPy accent from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
“There’s a slight thing in Carlton Banks,” Westwick says, “that kind of über-preppy, that I did pick up on.”
