Box Office Watch: Kerry Washington & Samuel L. Jackson’s Lakeview Terrace Tops the Box Office

The Samuel L. Jackson-Kerry Washington thriller Lakeview Terrace opened at No. 1 at the box office, pulling in an estimated $15.6 million in its opening weekend.

In the controversial film, Jackson plays a veteran LAPD police officer who doesn’t care for his new neighbors, a married couple played by the beautiful Washington and the equally stunning Patrick Wilson. Jackson’s character doesn’t like them because they are an interracial couple.

The film, which refers to the neighborhood where Rodney King was beaten by police in 1991, was produced by Will Smith.
