FASHION WEEK: Sophie Theallet Goes All Black For Runway

Brooklyn-based Parisian designer Sophie Theallet debuted her line in New York yesterday with a cast of black models ranging in skin tones.

The Azzedine Alaïa disciple insists she was not trying to make a political statement.”I was thinking about colors, and they look amazing on dark skin, so it came naturally,” Theallet says.

Considering she didn’t send out a press release announcing the all-black lineup like Carlos Campos, we believe she was going for the aesthetics rather than the novelty.

Her summery colllection of flowy fabrics, colorful satins and tropical appliqué flowers did indeed looked amazing on the models.
